What is Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP)?
- Scalp micropigmentation, also called scalp tattoo, is a hair loss treatment that involves the injection of pigment onto the scalp to resemble the appearance of real hair follicles.
- Scalp micropigmentation will not make your hair grow back, but rather create the appearance of growing hair.
- Scalp micropigmentation will not increase hair volume, but rather visually increase your hair density.
Who should undergo scalp micropigmentation?
The procedure can be performed on both men and women. Statistics show that up to 65% of men will suffer from noticeable hair loss by the age of 60 and 70% by the age of 80. On the other hand, up to 80% of women over the age of 60 will experience noticeable balding.

How is the procedure performed?
- A scalp micropigmentation treatment requires 2 to 3 outpatient sessions that are spaced a week apart.
- Each session takes a couple of hours depending on the size of the treatment area.
- To create a natural, realistic appearance, we will carefully select the correct color and density that will achieve the best results. If the patient has existing hair, we also make sure that the results blend seamlessly with real hair.
Do I have to change my current hair length ?
- Female clients with receding hairlines or parting lines do not have to change length of hair. However based on severity of hair loss, each client benefits from scalp micropigmentation to different extends. (i.e., we cannot change shape of hairline drastically if there is no existing hair to blend with.)
- clients with thinning hair that still have substantial amount of hair to blend with tattooed follicles can absolutely keep hair to their preferred length.
- clients with larger bald areas will mostly benefit from maintaining shaved heads so that the tattooed areas do not look "fake" in comparison to existing hair.
- Please text or email us clear pictures of your hair so we can determine if you can keep your current hair length or a "shaved look" is the best for you.
